23rd Jun 2008 More web site changes

As a result of poor service the web site has been moved to a different hosting company so the whole site has needed to be rebuilt. The main site should be as it was before, but I am still in the process of reconstructing the message board. It should be available to use within the next few days.

18th Jun 2008 Changes to the web site

The web site has been updated to include a new message board. Avicraft are kindly offering the award of a Moronic kit to the author of the best post to be judged at the next committee meeting on 22nd July 2008. More details will be available on the message board shortly.

The web site could still benefit from more content, so if you have any articles, stories or pictures for the gallery then please email them to me.

Avicraft Day at the Bickley Club on 13th July 2008

Avicraft will be holding an event at the Bickley Flying Club on Sunday 13th July so the Concord field will be closed on this day as our frequencies will be in use. All Concord and Bickley club members are most welcome to attend and can fly models of any make and type. There will be full facilities including a catering van so why not come along and take part?

17th Jun 2008. Safety Reminder

At the recent committee meeting it was brought to our attention that some flyers are taxiing towards the pit area and pilots' box. This is a potentially dangerous practise that could lead to serious injury in the event of radio interference or some other failure leading to the throttle being opened involuntarily.

Put simply, an aircraft should never be facing directly at the pit area or the pilots' box whilst on the ground with a running engine.

Vacancy for a newsletter editor

Our newsletter editor Gareth Evans has notified the Chairman that due to work commitments he is unable to continue in the role. As a result Concord are now seeking a replacement so if you are interested in taking over the position then please contact the chairman.

IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE

The topic of large models was discussed at the last committee meeting on 20th May. It was decided that the rules regarding gas turbine powered aircraft should also apply to models weighing over 7kg.

28th May 2008 Club Night

Tuesday 28th May is the date for the second club night of the year. The first meeting in April was unfortunately spoilt by adverse weather but hopefully we will be treated to more favourable conditions this time around. The flying field is in good condition and the BBQ will be fired up and loaded with the usual fare, so get down to the field in the evening and bring a model or two with you.

13th Feb 2008 New Web Site

The new website is now up and running but it is definitely not finished yet! In particular the following is still outstanding:

  • The gallery section needs modifying to provide a way to step through the full sized pictures without going back to the thumbnail view every time.
  • A members' section need to be added to provide a secure area for chat and private information as well as information on upcoming events.
  • The articles section is also a little short of content. If you have anything that you think would be of interest or if you have any comments or suggestions then please contact the Web Editor.
  • Some of the historical information such as past newsletters have still to be completed.

Finally, many thanks also to Nick Easton for his contributions to the links page and gallery.

The first newsletter of the year, and also the first by our new editor Gareth Evans. It includes reports on the Club bonfire night and the Bickley / Concord Christmas Inter-club Competition as well as articles on SuperGlue and how to adapt old PC power supplies for use as LIPO chargers.
You will need Acrobat Reader to open the newsletter. Most computers already have this installed but if yours doesn't you can download it free here.

A report by Bob Payne on the Bickley and Concord Xmas Inter-club Comp.

27 Nov 2007 Changes to club rules

At the AGM on 27th November it was decided that the maximum number of aircraft allowed to fly simultaneously would be increased from 4 to 6. There are no restrictions on how many of those flying are I.C. powered.
There were several other minor changes to the club rules and constitution and these will be listed in the full minutes of the AGM once it becomes available.
